Dr. Soumela Chatziantoniou
Dr. Soumela Chatziantoniou is a member of Special Technical Laboratory Staff at the Department of Supply Chain Management of the International Hellenic University (IHU). She has a bachelor’s degree in Food Technology (Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki), an MSc in Food Quality Assurance (University of Ioannina / Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki) and a PhD in Chemistry and Food Technology (University of Ioannina). She has experience on Food Safety Management Systems in the food industry, on the organisation of Quality Control Laboratories and also as a Laboratory Associate at IHU. She has been actively involved in Food Science, Research & New Product Development and has collaborated with various research groups on research projects. Her research aimed at addressing challenges of environmental sustainability and has primarily focused on novel, environmentally friendly analytical techniques for food traceability monitoring, exploitation of underutilised foods or bio-waste of plant and animal origin, as well as on the development of novel, value-added products from food processing by-products.
